The Olympic motto “Citius, Altius, Fortius” (which means Swifter, Higher, Stronger) was first introduced at the winter games held in 1924. It was designed to motivate athletes to embrace the Olympic spirit and perform to the best of their abilities. At The Bellettini, residents embrace that same attitude, engaging in the community’s Mind+Body Wellness and MBK Fit signature programs and in pursuing their fitness goals.
Take for example, resident Mike Flynn who competed in the World Senior Games in October – for the 10th year! He placed 4th place in the 100 meters event at the Hunstman World Senior Games in the 80-84 age
group. His time of 19.18 set a new personal record. He had previously won, in the same event, at the Washington State Senior games in July with a time of 20.20.
Mike decided to run in the 2011 games after he had colon cancer surgery and had to stay inactive during an 8-week recovery. During his recovery, he reminisced on when he ran track at Marquette College – deciding then and there that he would set the goal to run in the World Senior Games. Now, he competes in state and World Senior Games regularly – constantly bettering himself and inspiring others.
Like Mike, many of The Bellettini residents push themselves to reach “higher” and get “stronger” through our signature MBK Fit program that includes a full-time, certified personal trainer who offers one-on-one training as well as leads residents through a variety of classes to encourage wellness, balance and independence. In our fitness center, featuring state-of- the-art equipment, residents enjoy a wide range of classes from Basic Body Balance to Strength Essentials to Forever Fit.
Complementing our MBK Fit program is The Bellettini’s Mind+Body Wellness enrichment program. By collaborating with residents, our wellness department puts together an interesting, calendar that offers numerous social, educational, physical, cultural and spiritual opportunities daily – leading to a full, active lifestyle.
