"It took me leaving to realize the grass isn't greener. Sometimes, it's just Astroturf," said Melanie McCants with a smile.
After a nine-month hiatus, she has returned to her role as Director of Sales at The Commons at Dallas Ranch. Melanie said her salary doubled when she left, but she found the job wasn't nearly as fulfilling as working with older adults and their families.
"I missed the families, the residents, and the Dallas Ranch team," said Melanie. "I love my job here; I couldn't say that about the other positions I've held."
With a strong passion for impacting the lives of seniors and helping them find the right senior living community and level of care to meet their needs, Melanie jumped at the chance to return to The Commons at Dallas Ranch when the position opened up.
"Helping people, that's what I want to do – help them find a safe, secure community where their needs are met," Melanie said.
According to Melanie, it's not just a career in senior living but working for MBK Senior Living that pulled her back.
"MBK Senior Living is a great company," said Melanie. "If you're interested in working in the senior living industry, you won't find a comparable company to MBK."
"Honestly, I wish I had entered the senior living industry years ago. It's so fulfilling and gratifying. I am a woman of faith, and this is my ministry."
Melanie isn't alone. Several team members who took breaks during COVID or pursued other opportunities returned to work for MBK. At MBK Senior Living, employees find more than a job; they find purpose, a positive work environment, and the tools and training they need to succeed.
MBK Senior Living believes that the company succeeds when its employees do. That's why they invest in their team members and have created programs that encourage collaboration, mentorship, continuing education, and professional growth.
The investment is paying off. MBK is a trusted resource for seniors and their families seeking various care options and maintenance-free living. They have been certified as a Great Place to Work© by the Great Place to Work Institute since 2018 and ranked among Fortune magazine's list of Best Workplaces for Aging Services.
"I believe in their mission. I'm excited to be back," said Melanie.
