MBK Senior Living 2018 Highlights

Our Year in Review

|

What a year! In addition to doing what we enjoy most – providing exceptional care and services to our residents and their families – the past year had some significant moments for MBK Senior Living. And we couldn’t be prouder! As we look back upon the highlights, we would like to acknowledge those who helped shape our communities – our residents, our Team Members, our partners. Thank you for a great year, wishing you all the best in 2019.

  1. West Living Acquisition: Noted as one of the largest acquisition deals of 2018 by Senior Care Investor, MBK Senior Living completed the company’s largest single purchase and expanded our portfolio to 34 owned and managed communities located throughout the Western United States.
  2. The Firs Wins!: The Firs, our independent senior living community located in Olympia, Washington, was awarded the “Best 55+ Remodeled Project – Interior Renovation” from the Council on Shaping Advancements in Generational Environments (SAGE) for enhancing the life of residents age 55+.
  3. Certified Great Place to Work: Based on input from more than 1,000 team member surveys, MBK Senior Living was certified as a “Great Place to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute. The certification process considered input received from Team Members across 25 locations and evaluated more than 60 elements of Team Members’ job experiences.
  4. MBK Named One of the Best: Fortune magazine ranked MBK Senior Living in top 50 “Best Workplaces in Aging Services” list among senior housing and at-home care service companies nationwide.
  5. Award-winning Communities: Four of our communities were recognized by Caring.com as a “Caring Star of 2018” for service excellence in independent, assisted living and memory care. And, 12 MBK communities were selected as Best of 2018 Award winners by SeniorAdvisor.com. See the complete list here.
  6. The Wellington Wins (Again): The Wellington, located in Salt Lake City, received its 7th Best of State Award! Received in the Independent Senior Living category, Best of State awards recognize outstanding individuals, organizations, and businesses in Utah for their achievement and excellence in their field of endeavor.
  7. Yoi Shigoto (Good Work)!: As part of our company culture, we strive to make a difference in society and the world and by working together for greater good. We have implemented hundreds of Yoi Shigoto initiatives, contributed thousands of dollars and service hours to hundreds of charitable organizations and touched the lives of veterans, at-risk youth, homeless, foster children, individuals and families living with cancer and Alzheimer’s, and so much more.
  8. Celebrated Re-Grand Openings: Committed to providing the very best living environments, MBK renovated and celebrated grand re-openings at Fairview Commons, Northgate Plaza, Island House, Mountlake Terrace Plaza, The Creekside and The Commons at Dallas Ranch.
  9. Continued West Coast Expansion: MBK Senior Living closed escrow on its first Oregon community, Crystal Terrace of Klamath Falls. Adjacent to the area’s rolling hills, the community offers residents peace and quiet and a splendid view. As well as convenient access to medical offices and shopping in Old Town.
  10. Industry Leadership Roles: The Wellington’s Executive Director, Scott Ambrose is named as president of the Utah Assisted Living Association (UALA). Chris Etherington, MBK Director of Operations, recently completed his term as UALA president and is now serving in the past president role.

It's What We're Here For

Every time that I visited my dad, I enjoyed myself from the moment I walked in the door. The place is just alive! It was always a pleasure to go in and be greeted by name and say hello to everyone, staff and residents.
