MBK Senior Living names Jon Thomas as the new National Director of Dining. With a solid background in health care, hospitality, and hotel management, Thomas brings a fresh perspective to the company's senior living experience and offerings.
During his 18-year career, Thomas has challenged stereotypical aged care perceptions and service models. With a Master's in International Hospitality Management in England, a Bachelor's in Hotel Management, and hands-on experience working in hotels and hospitals, Jon relishes applying a customer-centered philosophy to senior living environments.
Before joining MBK Senior Living, Thomas served as the National Director of Hospitality Operations for St. Vincent's Health Australia in Brisbane. During his tenure in Australia, Thomas amassed more than 13 years of experience in the health care industry. With a focus on establishing processes and elevating standards and customer service, Thomas earned a reputation for creating positive customer experiences, operating cost efficiencies, and building and managing high-performing teams.
"I have a true passion for providing excellent service," said Thomas. "There is such a tremendous opportunity to blend the hospitality mindset with health care and senior living's supportive environment to enhance outcomes and increase customer satisfaction."
According to Thomas, he was attracted to MBK Senior Living's Yoi Shigoto (translated as the good work) culture that permeates throughout the company and each community.
"What struck me instantly was the Yoi Shigoto philosophy. I immediately started thinking about what that means to me," said Thomas. "To me, it's incorporating the service ethos that's associated with luxury hotels and inspiring the dining services team to go the extra mile."
Complementing his work experience and customer-centric mindset is Thomas' global perspective. He lived in Australia most recently but has also worked for well-known hotel brands in England and Canada and traveled to over 30 other countries. These travels have influenced his customer service approach.
"I look forward to creating programs for MBK Senior Living communities that have a true wow factor," said Thomas.
