MBK Senior Living (MSL) has announced the 2021 winners of the company’s Pursuit of Excellence Awards. Of the 170 nominations, six recipients were chosen by their peers and honored at an award ceremony held Wednesday, September 22, at Kimpton Shorebreak in Huntington Beach, California.
The Pursuit of Excellence Award was introduced to acknowledge MSL team members who exceeded the reasonable expectations of their jobs. In addition to demonstrating extraordinary customer service and embodying the company’s Yoi Shigoto (good work) culture, award winners exemplified a solid commitment to the company’s pursuit – to be the senior living provider of choice in each market MSL serves.
“With true servant leadership, our Pursuit of Excellence winners consistently and compassionately express empathy, stewardship, and a genuine desire to help residents and fellow team members,” said Jeff Fischer, president of MBK Senior Living.
This year’s recipients and nomination commentary included:
- Alexis Sanchez, Payroll Administer, Home Office, Irvine, California. “She takes on a challenge with a smile. When someone needs help, she goes the extra mile to ensure she can help them.”
- Barbara Kinsey, Business Office Manager, Seven Lakes Memory Care. “Barbara is Yoi Shigoto in action. She is fiercely loyal to her teammates and has a truly beautiful heart.”
- Gennie Garcia, Health Services Assistant, The Inn at Greenwood Village. “She goes above and beyond and always puts the residents first. She leads by example and is a dedicated and extremely valued member of the team.”
- Jennifer Adams, Connections for Living Director, The Commons at Dallas Ranch. “Jennifer took on so many roles during the hardest days of COVID. Jennifer loves our residents, and they love her.”
- Melina Luquin, Housekeeper, The Creekside. “Melina brings great enthusiasm to her job, and her love for our residents sets the example for each of us to emulate. Melina brightens the day every time she’s around.”

“I’m honored these talented individuals choose to work at MBK Senior Living. The good work they do daily has a profound impact,” said Fischer.
“As a whole, I’m immensely proud of MBK team members for how they have selflessly cared for and comforted residents throughout the pandemic. So many team members are deserving of recognition,” added Fisher.
