MBK Team Members,

It’s been a long 18 months. We’ve been stretched, burdened, and, yes, burnt out by COVID and the demands it has placed on us all. But, we’ve also fought, learned, grown, and overcome. At the heart of it is YOU – doing the good work day in and day out to care for our residents, families, and each other. And, it shows! Today we received the news, MBK Senior Living has been honored as a “Best Workplace” for 2021. This marks the fourth consecutive win for MBK – and out of nearly 150 senior living providers in the US, we were ranked 23rd!

More than just a superlative: MBK is the best because we employ the best. Our team members have consistently and courageously shown me just what they are made of – strength, compassion, tenacity, and resourcefulness. When faced with outbreaks, residents, and employees frustrated with COVID protocols, long hours due to call-offs, and more, you buckled down and got the job done. As we’ve seen record numbers of new residents come to our communities who are longing for the comfort and care we provide, you’ve welcomed them to the MBK family and made them feel right at home. I am grateful to all of you for going the distance.

That said, let me assure you that we’re not using this good news to gloss over the needs – need for more help, more training, more communication. I promise, there are teams of people working to resolve these issues and more. Our Human Resources & Talent Acquisition Teams are hard at work to conduct job fairs, recruit talented team members, and fill open spots in your communities. Our Resident Enrichment and Wellness Team is finding new ways to leverage technology and provide tools to support resident needs while also constructing new training modules to support you. Our Dining Teams are cooking up ways to improve our food offerings to delight residents – and their taste buds. And, our Operations Teams are vetting new technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of how we care for our residents and complete our daily tasks. We’re here for you. As always, my door is open. If there is something more we can do, I’m listening.
